NYCAST® shapes whether sheet, rod or tube are made from Cast Nylon 6, one of the most popular machinable plastics used in industries around the world. 

NYCAST® 6PA possesses high crystallinity as well as high compression strength and impact resistance. 6PA is in two filled forms. One is MoS₂ solid lubricant which has been very popular as a metal replacement in machined parts applications while the XHA version adds to heat stability so the nylon shows a slower loss of physical properties as temperatures increase. Cast Nylon Limited states that NYCAST® XHA can function at approximately 10% higher temperatures than standard grade nylon.

NYLOIL was created in the US over 35 years ago and to this day NYLOIL remains unmatched. NYLOIL is manufactured using a process that creates an oil infused nylon material that is a high crystalline and internally homogeneously lubricated polymer with high strength and enhanced wear along with reduced friction, thanks to the oil filler.

NYCAST® CP 6/12 is designed for applications requiring additional toughness of the material. NYCAST® CP is a copolymer of Caprolactam and Laurinlactam. It was originally developed as a material for ball valve seats in the oil and gas industry. In terms of cost and performance NYCAST® CP is a bridge between NYCAST® 6 and NYCAST® 12. NYCAST® CP has excellent dimensional stability, elongation and its bright yellow color has made it a popular choice for wobbler bx inserts and coupling boxes in the cold rolling steel process. It is also a common choice for mandrels covers in paper tube manufacturing.

NYCAST® also offers FG (Food Grade) which is suitable for applications where the nylon comes into direct contact with foods. This cast nylon is very high wearing and is often chosen to replace stainless steel. In addition there is a NYLOIL FG suitable for food processing applications where lubricated parts are needed and they will be in contact with foods. NYCAST® FG materials exhibit excellent vibration resistance. They are also resistant to becoming brittle, deterioration, and chemicals. NYCAST® FG is easy to machine and it is abrasion resistant.

One issue with nylon, whether it is cast nylon or extruded nylon is that it can have a tendancy to absorb moisture. However, NYCAST® 12 is a solution that provides the characteristics of nylon plus extremely low moisture absorption. NYCAST® 12 offers an excellent choice for high speed wheel and roller applications and it is popular in power transmission components for material handling and transportation environments, structurall enclosure elements in electronic and manufacturing equipment.
